Before embarking on his legal career, Raul was an external auditor and consultant with a multinational financial services provider, specializing in systems and network security. This technical expertise has shaped his precise and strategic approach to legal practice, ensuring that every detail is meticulously handled.

Today, Raul’s practice primarily focuses on criminal and commercial litigation, where he has established a reputation for his tenacity and commitment to justice. He is particularly recognized for his work in public interest cases, advocating for the rights of the marginalized and disenfranchised. Raul has represented families affected by unlawful police shootings, deaths in custody, police brutality, and state-enforced disappearances. Additionally, his legal counsel has been sought by activists and politicians across all levels of the Malaysian Courts.

Raul’s dedication extends beyond the courtroom. He is an active proponent for legal reforms, particularly in the areas of abolishing the death penalty, reforming outdated drug laws, and defending the freedom of speech. His work with civil society organizations reflects his deep commitment to upholding fundamental human rights.

In addition to his practice, Raul served on the Criminal Law Sub-committee of the Malaysian Bar from 2020 to 2022 and continues to actively contribute to the legal community. He remains engaged through his representation of clients via the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), ensuring that access to justice is available to those who need it most.
